Fox News’ Will Cain on Wednesday apologized to ex-DNC chair Jaime Harrison after their combative interview a day earlier led the host to pull the plug on his guest.
The confrontation went viral as Harrison complained that he had been invited to discuss the South Carolina Republican primary, not the emergence of democratic socialists and other progressives in the Democratic Party. He called Fox News “disingenuous.”
They bickered and talked over each other before Cain cut him off.
“So, Jaime, I understand why you felt misled,” Cain said on his show Wednesday. “I know what it’s like, what it feels like, if you thought you were ambushed on TV, and I understand why you were angry. And for that, I owe you an apology.”
Harrison wrote that he appreciated the apology while referencing the “bait and switch” tactics.
“We can disagree, debate and even get a little heated without playing games,” he wrote on X.
In lockstep with the conservative channel’s platforming of fear-mongering about progressives, Cain had pressed Harrison about the impact of candidates affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America. Harrison, who ran the Democratic National Committee from 2021 through 2025, at first entertained the subject, saying they were a product of “media hype.” But he grew more frustrated as the conversation continued.
Cain told viewers he “would never book the former head of the DNC to talk about a Republican primary.”
But on Wednesday the host copped to a potential misunderstanding after reviewing the communications leading up to the interview.
He said “nobody explicitly promised” Harrison that the primary would be the main subject. However, he acknowledged that his guest had “a reasonable expectation based on the communication.”
“There was a breakdown in communication,” Cain said. “I would never let a guest dictate what I can ask him. Had that been the deal, I would not have agreed to the interview. But that’s separate from what Jaime, I think, reasonably believed. The communication failure came from my show, and ultimately, I own it.”
