“It’s not that humid in December-January. The sex tourism is easily avoidable by not going to red light districts. Much of the country is absolutely gorgeous (eg. Chiang Mai, Koh Tao, Railay, Koh Lanta, etc.) with delicious food and friendly people.”
“Thailand is cool, but it gets redundant fast. Most of the places there have similar attractions, just the environment changes.
Where Thailand really shines is its culture and people. Each region has a kind of subculture with its own festivals, quirks, traditions, tangible heritage cuisines, etc.
A destination like that makes it hard to truly explore since you have to sort of peel back the layers, and the only way to do that is know someone there or stay in one region for a while and truly get to know the place.”
