Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) said Wednesday that randos off the street could manage the war in Iran better than the Trump administration. (Watch the video below.)
Psaki noted how “flippantly” and “inconsistently” the administration has approached the conflict, which threatens to mire the United States in a prolonged war without Congressional approval.
Kelly harkened back to Operation Desert Storm in which he flew dozens of missions. His commanding officer, he said, properly expressed the risk involved and emphasized readiness.
“You could just feel in his core that he understood how significant of an issue this was that some of us might die,” Kelly said.
Then he fired away at President Donald Trump and his government.
“I watch this group of people who were supposed to be leading our country, not just the president, secretary of defense and others … and I’m thinking you could pick a random group of people off the street tonight here in Washington, D.C., just a random group, and they could probably do a better job than our government is doing right now with this,” Kelly said. “They don’t have a goal. There’s no strategic plan. There’s no timeline. And what this is likely to lead to is, again, a long war with a lot of dead Americans and no rationale for how this is helping the American people.”
In November, Trump and co. escalated tensions with Kelly over a video he issued urging service members to defy “illegal orders.”
