“I believe that he needs to lawyer up,” said Cohen, whose office, home as well as his hotel room were raided by the FBI back in 2018.
Cohen — a former fixer for Trump who pled guilty and served time in prison for charges tied to a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels — said the Trump administration and Justice Department “predicated” the raid upon the contents of Bolton’s 2020 book, “The Room Where It Happened,” that details his time in Trump’s first administration.
Back in 2020, the DOJ launched an investigation into Bolton to look into whether the book contained classified national security information, a probe that the DOJ later ended under President Joe Biden the following year.
A lawsuit was also dropped at the time that sought to prevent Bolton from getting proceeds from the book’s sales, as well.
The investigation involving the book has since been resumed, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
On MSNBC, Cohen went on to predict that there’s “no doubt” Bolton will be indicted.
Vice President JD Vance — in a clip from an interview with “Meet the Press” shared Friday — dismissed talk of the probe into Bolton, a frequent Trump critic, being a matter of political retribution.
He then suggested that he was in the dark about the raid before adding that while he’s “the chief law enforcement officer” of the United States, it’d be “better” for the DOJ to handle the situation.
Cohen told MSNBC’s Ali Vitali that the raid shows Trump has “crossed yet another name off his enemies list.”

“He’s doing it to Tish James, he’s doing it to Adam Schiff, he’s doing it to Alvin Bragg and there are many more on that list that will ultimately suffer a very similar consequence,” Cohen said.
