The city’s social landscape is set for a dramatic ascent with the highly anticipated opening of EL – The Portal to Elsewhere, an immersive new destination at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar, that promises to be a threshold between the ordinary and the truly elevated

More than a rooftop bar, EL is a state of being, where sophisticated design, globally-attuned cuisine, and inventive mixology converge to transform the guest experience.

A World Suspended Above the City

The experience begins not at the bar, but on the staircase that leads to it. This symbolic ascent sets the tone for what awaits above, a world suspended between reality and reverie. Once at the top, guests are greeted by an ambience that feels immersive yet intimate, blending contemporary design, curated lighting, and rhythmic music that moves with the mood of the evening.

EL unfolds across three distinct yet connected spaces. The BubbEl Room offers an intimate Champagne experience, a quiet corner where creativity meets celebration. This leads seamlessly to the Indoor Bar which is the heart of the venue, where premium spirits and elevated cocktails come together to create moments of connection and indulgence. Finally, the Open Sky Dining area provides an airy, immersive experience beneath a canopy of stars. Here, guests dine on the edge of Elsewhere, savoring global flavors with effortless elegance as the city lights fade below.

    Culinary and Cocktail Journeys

EL’s philosophy, “Flavors That Travel,” drives a menu designed as a passport for the palate. The cuisine masterfully draws from Japan, South America, and the Mediterranean, moving fluidly between crudo and charcoal, delicacy and boldness. Signature plates like citrus-brightened tiraditos, globally-inspired grills, and shareable tapas are built for evenings that linger. Each dish is crafted to be shareable, refined, and globally attuned, reflecting EL’s philosophy of elevation through simplicity and depth.

The beverage program, aptly named “Elevated Cocktails for Another World,” is an act of mixological ascension. The menu celebrates spirits that rise, blending global influences with inventive technique across three distinct paths: the bright and vibrant Citrusy and Fruity category, the soft-edged Floral and Herbal selections featuring bold botanicals, and the complex Strong and Stirred concoctions, designed for the moment the city disappears and the spirits truly rise.

The selection features signature libations, from the luxurious, truffle-infused Enchanted and the smoky, tart Topamine, to the aromatic, herbal complexity of the Elixir and the warming, nutty profile of the Asgardian. Every sip is crafted to be a passage from the familiar to the transformed, ensuring that where global flavours meet, they always rise.

Speaking on the launch, Sachin Mylavarapu, General Manager, JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar, said, “With EL, we’re reimagining what a bar experience can mean within the context of modern luxury. JW Marriott Sahar has always been synonymous with exceptional hospitality, but this launch takes that promise to new heights, literally and creatively. EL is designed to become more than just a venue; it’s an experience that embodies the evolution of the brand.. It’s a space that evokes emotion and curiosity, where our guests can rise above the everyday and connect through flavour, music, and design. With EL, we wanted to craft a destination that feels both elevated and effortless, redefining how the city experiences rooftop dining.”

More than a new addition, EL represents the hotel’s continued spirit of evolving with its city: bold, dynamic, and deeply attuned to its guests. It is a reflection of JW Marriott Sahar’s commitment to crafting experiences that feel timeless yet forward-looking, rooted in excellence but alive with imagination. As the skyline glows beneath it, EL stands as Mumbai’s newest address for those who seek something beyond the expected, a place where the evening doesn’t just unfold, it ascends.
