MS NOW’s Jen Psaki needled Donald Trump for turning what should be the “easy” parts of being president into an “unmitigated disaster.”
Being president is “a hard job,” acknowledged the former Biden White House press secretary. “We all know that. I mean, all the hard decisions land on your desk. Every single president says this and it’s true.”
“But there are actually some parts of the job that are supposed to be, well, much easier than others,” she continued. “Simple things that the leader of the free world does in between all of the difficult stuff, like, say, throwing a birthday party for America. I mean, that’s supposed to be one of those very easy things, right?”
“But for Donald Trump, even the easiest parts of being president somehow all end up being an unmitigated disaster,” she added.
As an example, Psaki pointed to the celebrations marking America’s 250th birthday. She noted that a planned concert has effectively become a Trump rally following a series of artist withdrawals. At the same time, some states have opted not to set up exhibits at the Great American State Fair.
“This is supposed to be the kind of thing that is easy for a president,” Psaki said. “It’s kind of the presidential equivalent of a local politician showing up at a ribbon-cutting ceremony, but Donald Trump can’t even pull this off.”
