The White House reportedly yanked the Independent’s Andrew Feinberg from his pool reporting assignment to cover the president in Iowa Thursday after a tense exchange with Trump on Tuesday.
Heinrich, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, firmly condemned the move as “retaliation.”
“The White House Correspondents’ Association strongly objects to the decision to restrict a journalist’s coverage simply because the president didn’t care for their questioning,” the Fox News senior White House correspondent wrote on X. “That is retaliation. The American public’s right to an independent press depends on reporters being able to do their jobs without fear that challenging the president will cut off their access.”
Trump growled at him to be “quiet.”
“Not that I know of, sir,” Feinberg replied.
“I actually think there’s something wrong with you,” Trump said.
