Donald Trump Jr. sparked backlash on social media after he referred a visit to the White House as a “sleepover at dad’s house.”
The post showed a video taken on Monday of President Donald Trump exiting Marine One with his first born following behind, carrying what looks like a gym bag.
Don Jr.’s caption was the perfect epitome of a trollish humblebrag:
Considering the White House is actually owned by the U.S. government ― not Trump ― Don Jr.’s post inspired a mega tizzy on social media.
Many people felt obligated to let him know that his dad is only a temporary resident of the White House.
Others thought some of Jr.’s phrasing was a little bizarre.
One person warned Jr. to enjoy this White House visit because “when your time comes, you’ll both be bunking in much smaller quarters.”
Another person felt Don Jr.’s post was “the most accidentally honest description of how this dynasty actually works.”
But where many people saw the post as selfish entitlement, political pundit Bill Kristol saw it as a sign of future things to come.
“He’s running,” Kristol said.
