Sportscasting legend Al Michaels drilled President Donald Trump on Thursday during an NFL exhibition game on Prime Video Thursday.
As the camera panned the Cleveland Browns’ stadium and downtown area from above, Michaels snarked:
“That is Lake Erie. We think it is still called Lake Erie up on the right. We’re not quite sure at this point. But we’ll be by Lake Something like Ontario or whatever it’s going to be called by the time we get to Buffalo.” (Prime Video will be broadcasting a Week 2 game in Buffalo, which also abuts Lake Erie but is near Lake Ontario.)
“Anyway, you know what I’m talking about,” Michaels continued. “Read the news.”
Trump has hijacked the news cycle in the last few days with his effort to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America” amid his escalating trade war with Canada. The president issued a childish TikTok of him drawing in his new title by hand on a map, and followed that with an executive order to make it more official.
“This lake is called Lake Ontario — today and forever,” he wrote.
