Spaceship Earth & Pirates of Caribbean Lounges Add Walk-Up Waitlist in Disney World App

Walt Disney World’s two most popular bars have quietly added the Walk-Up Waitlist feature in the My Disney Experience app, suggesting that the Beak & Barrel Pirates of the Caribbean tavern and GEO-82 lounge inside Spaceship Earth will soon offer ADR-less seatings. Here’s the latest on this change, which comes roughly one year after the locations at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT debuted.

This is a noteworthy change for both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82. When we last covered these lounges, they were the hot ticket Advance Dining Reservations in all of Walt Disney World. Both were “selling out” of ADRs 60+ days ahead of time, and just perusing the availability calendar revealed a sea of sold out dates.

For a while, both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 were very difficult to book unless you got lucky with an ADR refill. Like many Walt Disney World restaurants, a limited number of reservations are released 60+10 days in advance, with more added to inventory as dates draw nearer based on staffing and other factors.

In fact, Sarah still hasn’t been to either of these bars because we struck out on reservations for Beak & Barrel every time we’ve tried. As for GEO-82, quite honestly, we completely forgot about it. (We could use the “we have a toddler” excuse, but the fact of the matter is that we flat-out forgot! In our defense, both are tucked away in pretty nondescript locations at Pirates of the Caribbean and Spaceship Earth.)

Honestly, I haven’t been paying super close attention to the Advance Dining Reservation situation for either location in the last six months. I checked both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 back around when Garden View Lounge opened, and ADR availability had improved for both, but was still limited. Granted, that would’ve been the height of Spring Break and Easter.

Fast-forward a few more months, and demand has dropped to the point that both GEO-82 and Beak & Barrel are poised to soon add Walk-Up Waitlist..

    Walk-Up Waitlist Added

Walt Disney World is preparing to roll out the Walk-Up Waitlist option for both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82.

As of today, the “Join Walk-Up List” button now appears on the Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 pages in the My Disney Experience app. Although the button is live, the feature itself isn’t. Tapping it currently returns an error message that reads: “Unable to Search for Availability Right Now. Please try again later, or make a reservation under ‘Check Dining Availability’ within the app.”

It is almost certainly not a glitch that the Walk-Up Waitlist button has appeared in the app. Walt Disney World has quietly made updates like this in the past in preparation for a new feature to go live, or a new location to join the lineup. Based on past precedent, we’d expect both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 to start offering Walk-Up Waitlist availability within the next few days. It won’t be long.

We are huge fans of the Walk-Up Waitlist feature.

This is perhaps the only Walt Disney World planning website that is vehemently anti-spreadsheet and cautions against over-preparing. We feel strongly about that as fans of Walt Disney World and enjoyers of fun. There’s also the practical reality that nearly everything about WDW is overly stressful and complicated. It’s refreshing to just wing it and go with the flow whenever possible. (See our Being Spontaneous at Walt Disney World for a longer diatribe, including the importance of ‘planned spontaneity.’)

And it largely is possible with ADRs, especially now that pent-up demand has subsided and more Walt Disney World guests are reallocating their vacation budgets away from sit-down dining and towards Lightning Lanes. Given that, there’s seldom much of a need to plan where you’re going to eat months in advance.

All of this is precisely why one of the biggest improvements for our Walt Disney World touring style of the last several years is the addition of the Walk-Up Waitlist in MDX.

This is one of the few technology initiatives in the last several years that reduces stress rather than adds to it. We regularly see options like 1900 Park Fare, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Le Cellier, Topolino’s Terrace, ‘Ohana, Story Book Dining at Artist Point, and other popular Advance Dining Reservations.

This has only increased since Walt Disney World relaxed its cancellation policy to 2 hours. As a result of this, many more guests are cancelling last-minute, and that availability goes into the Walk-Up Waitlist rather than back into the reservation pool (since it’s not far enough in advance).

    ADR Demand Easing

Once the Walk-Up Waitlist feature does go live, our expectation is that it’ll offer fairly ample availability.

Just in perusing ADRs for both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 right now, I’m surprised to see so many options. Both have dates with no availability at all, but this is still far better than the ADR calendar looked the last time I checked.

Beak & Barrel has a lot less availability, likely owing to it being newer by a few months, welcoming guests of all ages, its efficient turnover (thanks to the 45 minute time limit), and being located in Magic Kingdom, adjacent to Pirates of the Caribbean.

By contrast, GEO-82 is adults-only, doesn’t have as much of a distinct hook, and is located in a currently festival-less EPCOT. The park being in Diet Mode during a particularly hot stretch when locals are less likely to visit is likely playing a role here.

The same is probably true of Beak & Barrel, especially given that July 2026 is Walt Disney World’s Least Busy Month Since September 2021. Still, ADR demand trends tend to go in one direction as a location loses its newness factor, and it would seem that has arrived for both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82. (Meanwhile, Garden View Lounge remains the hot ticket, with very limited availability through early September 2026.)

It’ll be interesting to see if demand does end up spiking again starting around October, when Party Season arrives at Magic Kingdom in full force and the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival heats up. Our guess is that demand will increase slightly, but that there will still be options for both same-day ADRs and Walk-Up Waitlist.

All in all, a big win for the spontaneous Walt Disney World tourists like us. I’m looking forward to getting back to both locations, including (fingers crossed) GEO-82 during fireworks, which I still haven’t done. As discussed elsewhere, one of our favorite Walt Disney World dining “secrets” is that lounges are our favorite category of restaurants at Walt Disney World…even as parents to a toddler!

If we could only dine at locations on our List of the 26 Best Bars & Lounges at Walt Disney World, we could easily do so. It wouldn’t even be a real challenge. Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 are not exemplars of the dining side of this list, but they are great atmospheric locations that are great extensions of Spaceship Earth and Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Pirates of the Caribbean tavern shines as a treasure trove of themed design and Easter Eggs, whereas GEO-82 opts for a more generic form of subtly sophisticated style and big views of the former Future World from its elevated perch inside Spaceship Earth. If you only have time to do one of the two, make it Beak & Barrel. The Pirates tavern is far superior and holds way more appeal for diehard Walt Disney World fans, but there is something to be said for enjoying elevated atmosphere from an elevated location behind Spaceship Earth.
