President Donald Trump on Monday tore into Harvard University, threatening new action against the Ivy League school, while declaring that his administration would “in the end, WIN” their ongoing legal fight.
“I am considering taking Three Billion Dollars of Grant Money away from a very antisemitic Harvard, and giving it to TRADE SCHOOLS all across our land,” he wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform. “What a great investment that would be for the USA, and so badly needed!!!”
Reuters noted that most of the grants awarded to Harvard fund biomedical research, which is not typically pursued at trade schools.
The Trump administration has already cut $450 million in grants for the university after slashing billions in federal funding Harvard expected to receive, prompting a lawsuit from the storied university.
Trump has also said he will revoke its tax-exempt status.
On top of federal funding cuts, the Department of Homeland Security last week said it was revoking the university’s Student and Exchange Visit Program, barring it from enrolling international students, who make up over a fourth of its student body. A federal judge, however, blocked the administration’s action after the university sued, claiming the move was unconstitutional.
In a follow-up post on social media Monday, Trump, once again, demanded that Harvard release the names of all international students it has enrolled, accusing it of slow-walking the process.
“We are still waiting for the Foreign Student Lists from Harvard so that we can determine, after a ridiculous expenditure of BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, how many radicalized lunatics, troublemakers all, should not be let back into our Country,” he wrote. “Harvard is very slow in the presentation of these documents, and probably for good reason! The best thing Harvard has going for it is that they have shopped around and found the absolute best Judge (for them!)”
Trump added that he expects his side to eventually emerge successful in court.
“Have no fear, the Government will, in the end, WIN!” he continued.
Harvard has yet to weigh in on Trump’s latest threats and accusations.
Since his inauguration, Trump has waged war against top universities in the country under the pretext of fighting antisemitism and diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
