As today’s luxury travelers seek more than indulgence—craving authenticity, meaning, and immersive connection with the natural world—a new era of transformative travel is emerging. Exclusivity is no longer defined solely by opulence, but by soul-stirring experiences that leave a lasting impression. In response to this shift, luxury travel expert Sarah Casewit launched Alchemia Journeys—a collection of curated itineraries that connect discerning adventurers with some of the world’s most awe-inspiring corners.

An Arctic Adventure of a Lifetime

Designed in partnership with ocean conservationist and filmmaker Tyson Sadler, founder of Waterborn Expeditions, the debut experience, Auroras & Orcas, is an expedition into the raw beauty and cultural richness of Northern Norway. An eight-day journey that is as much about inner transformation as it is about outer exploration. Crafted to delight the traveler who craves the extraordinary, it’s an elegant fusion of Arctic nature, marine wildlife, Indigenous heritage, and elevated Nordic hospitality. Think swimming alongside wild orcas, falling asleep beneath the Northern Lights, and sharing whisky with Indigenous herders in the Arctic Circle.

After arriving in Tromsø, Northern Norway’s cultural capital, you’ll be transported—either by car or helicopter—to the private Havnnes Lodge, a secluded hideaway nestled on the shores of a pristine fjord. With exclusive access to the lodge, you’ll enjoy personalized service, a private chef, a Nordic spa, and views that set the tone for a deeply immersive experience. Each day, the Arctic landscape unfolds in new and unforgettable ways: embark on guided marine safaris with Sadler from the comfort of a heated Sargo 37 boat, tracking migrating humpback whales and orcas as they move through the fjords. Weather permitting, you may even have the chance to enter the water and swim alongside these majestic creatures—a truly rare, but ethically-led opportunity further elevated by underwater photography.

Nature meets Culture in the Land of the Northern Lights

On land, the journey continues with Arctic cultural encounters: mush your own team of huskies across snow-blanketed terrain and learn traditional sledding techniques that have shaped life in the north for centuries. Encounters with local Sami reindeer herders offer intimate insight into Indigenous heritage, while sessions in floating saunas and invigorating cold plunges introduce the centuries-old art of Nordic wellness. For those with a taste for craftsmanship, an excursion to the world’s northernmost whisky distillery offers a deep dive into Arctic terroir. And for lovers of music, an unforgettable evening awaits inside the historic Tromsø Cathedral: a candlelit concert by the Arctic Philharmonic.

Guests also venture into Lyngenfjord, staying in transparent-domed igloos perfectly positioned to take in the wonder of the Aurora Borealis. As the Polar Night envelops the landscape—when daylight fades into a surreal palette of blue, violet, and emerald—travelers are treated to nightly performances in the sky, framed by silence and stars.

Alchemia: The Art of Travel as Transformation

Auroras & Orcas is the first offering under the Alchemia Journeys umbrella, a concept born from Casewit’s belief that travel can be a powerful vehicle for transformation. Co-created with visionary partners from outside the traditional travel space, each Alchemia Journey explores off-the-grid destinations through a unique lens—whether that be wildlife conservation, art, gastronomy, or music. In alchemy, the ancient science of transformation, “alchemia” symbolizes the magic that occurs when seemingly disparate elements combine to create something rare and powerful.

    Now Booking for Autumn 2025

Timed to align with Norway’s mesmerizing Polar Night, Auroras & Orcas is now available to book for October and November 2025. During this period, sunlight fades to twilight, and the Aurora Borealis dances across the Arctic sky. The journey is priced from $13,300 USD per person (based on two guests traveling privately) and is fully customizable to suit individual interests, whether that’s additional wildlife encounters, photography workshops, or cultural extensions. sarahcasewit.com.
