Can you imagine meeting the love of your life thousands of feet in the air? It sounds like the plot of a romance novel, but for influencer Megan Meza Gershinson and her now-husband, Freddie, it’s a real-life love story. Sometimes, the most extraordinary moments stem from the simplest gestures—especially when confidence is part of the equation. I had the privilege of interviewing influencer Megan Meza Gershinson for my latest feature in Social Lifestyle Magazine.
Meghan Forte: Ms. Meza, you are known for how you met your husband . What do you feel are factors to a healthy relationship?
Megan Meza Gershinson:
Trust and communication are key to any relationship, but especially for long-distance ones like ours. We’re both over-communicators, which really helped build trust even from 5,000+ miles away. Trust isn’t built overnight. It takes months to nurture but can be broken in seconds. So, showing up consistently for each other was crucial for us. Honestly, having fun and laughing together is incredibly important. It might sound simple, but when I think back to previous relationships, I realize I’ve never laughed or smiled as much as I do with Freddie. I think I just assumed that was how relationships were supposed to be. But the truth is your partner should be your best friend and you should be able to have fun together.
Meghan Forte: In what ways do you feel that confidence plays a part in finding a partner or a new friendship?
Megan Meza Gershinson: I absolutely love this question!! Freddie and I talk about this a lot. One of the first messages he sent me actually mentioned how attractive he found it to meet someone that was so confident in themselves. I was in a very different place the year before I met him, and while I think we would have still found a connection, I think the relationship would have been totally different. I think you need to bring your best possible self to a relationship. If you don’t love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to love you (romantically or as a friend)?! I think it takes time to build confidence. I don’t think I really found it until my late 20s.
Meghan Forte: What are you and your fiance’s goals in the near future?
Megan Meza Gershinson: Our main goal right now is just to soak up this time together! After 2.5 years of long-distance, we’re finally living the life we dreamed about. We’ve set a fun goal to visit a new city or state each month, and it’s been such a joy to explore together. Beyond that, we’re deep into wedding planning for 2025. It’s exciting to think about bringing our families and friends from both sides of the pond together for one big celebration.
Meghan Forte: Why is kindness important to you? You and your now husband met one another on a plane. So, in addition to romance, how do you feel that kindness and open heart shaped the circumstances?
Megan Meza Gershinson: The world can feel pretty dark these days, and I think we all need a little more kindness. When Freddie and I met, it was still during the pandemic, and people had just been through so much. Even something as simple as a smile on a plane felt like a simple enough gesture of kindness. I never imagined that smile would lead me to my lifelong partner. It just goes to show that small acts of kindness can have the biggest rewards. I don’t think you should be kind with the expectation of getting something in return, but I do believe that when you put kindness out there, it often comes back to you.
Megan and her husband Freddie shared, “We actually got legally married in November in a small civil ceremony with our families. However, we’re still planning a big celebration in 2025 with family and friends.” 
Megan and Freddie’s romantic story reminds us that small acts of kindness, combined with self-confidence, can lead to life-changing outcomes—and even a lifetime of true love!
