A Mile High Spa Day at Four Seasons Hotel Denver

I didn’t plan to spend part of my downtown Denver spa day swapping stories with a stranger in a hot tub. But upon my bubbly submersion, the young woman announced that not only was it her birthday, but it was her first time at a spa. She had asked a spa-savvy friend which Denver sanctuary she should choose to mark the occasion. The friend, apparently a connoisseur who’d sampled every treatment room in town, hadn’t hesitated: Four Seasons Hotel Denver. “It’s supposed to be the best spa in the city,” said the birthday girl as she settled back into the warm water as if to prove the point.

It’s a bold claim—but after a day of facials, massages, and rooftop poolside lounging, I could see why.  In this city that is best known for craft beer and mountain hikes, the Four Seasons Hotel Denver Spa delivers a different kind of high-altitude therapy: serene, polished, and indulgent. The women’s locker room alone is a small oasis, with a eucalyptus steam room, spacious vanity areas stocked with every possible post-treatment necessity, and that whirlpool where birthday wisdom is exchanged. The vibe is unhurried. It’s a quiet retreat from the city’s pace.

My own day unfolded perfectly: a hydrating facial that left my skin red-carpet-ready; a hot oil scalp massage that melted tension, and hours poolside on the rooftop deck. The pool area is one of Denver’s best-kept secrets, ringed by skyline views and outfitted with cushioned loungers, shaded cabanas, and tasty food and beverage service. I ordered a berry smoothie and a dish of roasted garlic hummus—refreshing enough to feel virtuous and indulgent enough to feel like vacation.

Before or after a treatment, spa guests can drift into the adjacent fitness center, which offers the kind of equipment variety (from Peloton bikes to free weights) that makes a real workout possible. Though, on a spa day, it’s more often a scenic stop for a leisurely stretch than a calorie-burning mission.

Beyond the spa, Four Seasons Hotel Denver is known for the brand’s signatures: discreet yet genuinely warm service, floral-filled interiors, and an address that puts you close to Denver’s cultural core. Performing arts venues, galleries, and restaurants are within easy walking distance. Business travelers check in for the location and reliability; leisure guests for the comfort and ease; locals for a quick escape that feels far from ordinary life.

Having stayed at more than two dozen Four Seasons properties around the world, I can say this one feels casually luxurious and welcoming. In Budapest, you might sip tea under a crystal chandelier; in Lanai, tropical flowers scent the breeze. In Denver, it’s the soft clink of ice in your glass as you lounge in the sun at a rooftop pool you didn’t expect to find in the middle of downtown.

As the birthday girl and I climbed out of the whirlpool, she wrapped herself in a robe and grinned. “Best birthday ever,” she said. For a first spa visit, she’d chosen well. For a seasoned Four Seasons guest, I’d say the same.
