President Donald Trump on Monday called Fox News’ Jessica Tarlov a “loser” at a Nebraska rally after saying she was “stupid” the day before. (Watch the video below.)
Tarlov, a former pollster and Democratic strategist, provides a liberal counterpoint as a panelist on the conservative network’s “The Five.” She has been one of the president’s consistent targets in his long-term attack on female media members. (CNN’s Kaitlan Collins is also a frequent mark for Trump.)
During a midterm campaign event in Grand Island, Nebraska, the president appeared to complain about Martha MacCallum’s Fox News interview with Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed earlier in the day.
“El-Sayed was interviewed just a little while ago on a certain network,” Trump noted. “I won’t tell you which one. They let this guy talk, talk, talk. They hardly fight him at all. Why are they putting these people on our television networks? Why?”
The president got more specific.
“They always have to put Jessica Tarlov — another loser,” Trump said to a smattering of boos. “They put these voices on, and, you know, some of our guys defend. A lot of our guys don’t defend because they want to get onto the next question, and it’s really bad. I think it’s really bad, and I think there’s no reason to do it. It’s not better entertainment.”
Tarlov may have re-ignited Trump’s ire with a midterm assessment earlier on “The Five” (per The Daily Beast): “The good news is Democrats will come into power and we’ll get out of this war with Iran and these silly trade wars will go away.”
On Sunday, Trump spun a similar narrative to his Nebraska ramble, again singling out Tarlov.
“Fox spends more time talking to Communists, Socialists, and Dumocrats, often without rebuttal, and MAGA is not, to put it mildly, happy,” he wrote on Truth Social. “We don’t like stupid Jessica Tarlov, and all of the others, that are forced down MAGA’S throats. These Rallies are the hottest things out there, tremendous love in those sold out arenas, and nothing shows up on Fox!”
The “I Disagree” author, who has clapped back at the president online, recently said she wished Trump had won the 2020 election because he wouldn’t have had four more years to gain strength.
