5 Reasons Why You Should Consider Retiring in Arizona

Embarking on your retirement journey is like stepping into a new chapter of life. It’s filled with possibilities, relaxation, and abundant sunshine. But where will this happen? Are you somewhere warm and sunny? Do you see yourself in a bustling city? Or are you close to beautiful views and trails where you can enjoy nature?

The beauty of retirement is that you can stick around where you are or move anywhere in the world. Is that vision in a sun-drenched haven without hurricane worries? Then Arizona is the place for you. Here are 5 reasons you should consider one of the retirement communities in Arizona.

Although it’s known as the Grand Canyon State, Arizona is more than this landmark. Fun fact: Arizona pumps out 13% of the U.S.’s tangerines!

But what about sunshine? Arizona holds the title of the sunniest state in the United States. Yuma is the sunniest city in the state, with more than 320 sunny days.

The summers are hot, but it’s a dry heat with less humidity. Keep that AC maintained. November to April is a sweet spot, ranging between 66 to 86 degrees, which means more time to enjoy the outdoors.

How do low real estate taxes sound? Arizona stands out for this tempting financial factor.

According to WalletHub, Arizona tied for the 12th lowest in rankings. The state’s income tax rate stands at a modest 2.5%. Additionally, it’s worth noting that while there is a sales tax, there is no tax on food purchases.

Veterans, you can deduct 100% of your military retirement from your state taxes. Are you a former federal worker? You can deduct up to $2,500 from your pension income. To top it off, everyone’s Social Security remains untaxed in Arizona.

Do you like to golf? Arizona is a golfing haven, second only to Florida as the best state to retire for this competitive sport.

The Grand Canyon State is home to five of the top 25 golf cities in the U.S., with Scottsdale being number one. Take your pick from over 300 different courses, a mix of both professional and casual.

Whether you want a desert landscape or lush parklands in which to practice your swing, you can find it here. Some of these courses have hosted many prestigious tournaments. So, after hanging up your work boots, reach for your golf clubs. Arizona is waiting with open arms (or greens).

Did you know Arizona has the country’s first residential community for people 55 and older? It’s called Sun City and opened in 1960. Since then, they have continued building. Today, there are 151 active adult communities available.

These communities are scattered across the state. You may wish for a bigger city with more restaurants and shopping. Maybe you prefer something more midsize or the feel of a small scenic town. Whatever you’re looking for in your new home, there’s a community waiting for you.

Arizona has a treasure trove of attractions and views. Explore national parks like the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. Appreciate the cultural wonder of Montezuma Castle. Remember to visit the volcanic landscapes of Sunset Crater or the stunning Red Rocks of Sedona. Tombstone offers that old western charm if you’re feeling a bit cowboy-ish. Arizona has something for every retiree!

The Choice is Simple — Arizona is Waiting!

These 5 reasons should be the persuasive push you need to choose Arizona for retirement, but the next step is finding the perfect area that suits your needs.

Arizona offers it all, whether you’re after sunshine, golf, hiking, or exploring national treasures. Stop dreaming and kick off your retirement in Arizona today, where the possibilities are as vast as the great outdoors.
