Laura Ingraham received an on-air correction from her own team ― and mockery and criticism on social media ― after mixing up Black female rappers during a Fox News segment.
Ingraham was speaking on Wednesday with Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) about Donald Trump’s infant savings account initiative when she referenced the appearance of hip-hop star Nicki Minaj at the event.
Minaj expressed her support for Trump, declared herself his “number one fan,” and accused critics of “bullying” the president.
Ingraham said of the “Anaconda” singer: “Nicki Minaj and Donald Trump. Now, conservatives, including myself, were beyond disgusted by some of her lyrics in her songs over the years.”
“‘WAP,’ I won’t say what that stands for,” she continued.
At that point, Ingraham paused, appearing to receive a correction through her earpiece.
“That’s Cardi B. Oh, that’s how bad I am. That’s Cardi B. Thank you, Sam,” she said, as Moreno laughed at the error.
Of course, the 2020 hit “WAP” was performed by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion — not Minaj.
And critics on X let her know about it:
